FAQ


Q: I haven't received the license key.

A: Here are the most common reasons for not receiving the key:

  • You are using spam protection, and the e-mail with the license key has been rejected or moved to a spam/junk folder for some reason. Check your spam/junk folder. If you don't find the e-mail, you can add sales@avastshop.com to your trusted e-mail addresses to solve this problem.
  • The e-mail address you have entered is not valid. In this case, check your order confirmation and e-mail us with valid e-mail address.
  • Your e-mail server is unavailable or reports errors while receiving the e-mail with the license key. It is possible that this e-mail will be delivered later, usually the delivery is re-tried at 4 hours intervals, for a few days.
  • Your e-mail box is full, so the e-mail with the license key can't be delivered.
If you don't receive the e-mail with the license key during one day, we recommend you to use On-Line Key Retrieval to retrieve the license key.


Q: How can I check the updates expiration?

A: Please follow the instructions below :

  1. Right-click on the blue a-ball icon in system tray.
  2. Select "About avast!..." from the menu.
  3. In the window that appears, unroll the "Registration key" item.
  4. Check "Updates expiration" date and compare it to the current date.


Q: Entering the activation key, the program says "Invalid license number".

A: The activation key is valid. Try using the copy & paste method to enter it into avast! (watch the instructional video); Also, keep in mind that this number can't be used on any server operating system, and that you have to be logged in to Windows with administrators rights (to enter they key).
Finally, check if your system date is set correctly. The license key is valid for one year, so if your system date is set to a value when the key is expired, it becomes invalid. In that case, set the system date correctly and enter the same license key again.


Q: How can I uninstall avast!?

A: You can uninstall avast! just as any other software - using ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS in Control Panel. If any problem appears, use the avast! uninstall utility.

The exact way:

  1. Click on START button.
  2. Select SETTINGS -> CONTROL PANEL (or simply CONTROL PANEL - it depends on your Windows version) -> ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS.
  3. From the list of installed applications select avast! Antivirus and click on CHANGE/REMOVE button.
  4. avast! setup starts. Select UNINSTALL and click on NEXT.
Computer restart will be needed after avast! uninstallation.


Q: Should I uninstall other anti-virus programs before installing avast!?

A: Yes. Using two or more antivirus programs can cause problems and the operating system may become unstable.


Q: I can't uninstall avast! via "ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS" in control panel. What else can I do?

A: You can download our uninstall utility called AswClear or AvClear4 (it depends on the version of avast! installed on your computer) which will remove it. Please find more information by clicking here.
